STIP started when it merged with Recaredo Castillo College as a Technical department in 1975. It was then located at Espiritu Street Mangagoy Bislig City. The partnership between Recaredo Castillo College and the Technical department lasted for two years.
Known as Saint Joseph Technical School in the late 70’s and owned and managed by the Toyco family, the first building was established and located at the corner of Roxas Street and F. Clar Street.
After sometime, the Toyco family changed their trade name to Southern Technological Institute of the Philippines Incorporated hence commonly known now as STIP.
STIP was established in June 1985, and it started to conduct its classes in the following year in 1986. STIP was built with blood, sweat and tears serving as the strong foundation of the institution providing affordable and quality education for all who wants to pursue their studies.
